The Tender Mercies of the Lord

"But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance."
The tender mercies of the Lord are a mysterious thing. It is a cycle, I'm learning, that goes like this: We exercise great faith, become witness to a tender mercy of the Lord, increase our faith, recognize his mercies, desire more faith, learn more about his mercies, and so on. It is a miraculous gift that Heavenly Father gives us as one of the many rewards for our faithfulness.
I don't know how I ever could be a mother without faith, or without the tender mercies of the Lord. There are so many inadequecies, so much insecurity. Still, nothing makes me feel as full or as completely joyful as my role as a mother does. It is because of faith that I can do what I do.
One of the greatest tender mercies I've received is feeling the love of my baby boy for his mama. Every morning on my way out the door to the gym, I check on my sleeping angel baby. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, he's awake and catches my eyes. He always flashes me a huge smile and kicks his legs, letting me know in his own sweet way that he is happy to see me and that he loves me. It is one of my favorite things about being a mom.
Talk about a tender mercy that renews your faith and motivates you to do better. For those sweet smiling eyes, I would do anything. Because of those tender mercies from a loving Father, I am made "mighty even unto the power of deliverance" and can do anything.
Thank heaven for love.
